    • Jon Gulsvik inherited upper Gulsvik from his father, Helge. Jon is mentioned in records from 1546 and 1566. from 1558 to 1563 he was the church guardian. In 1566, he received a letter from his brother, Syver "Thornsgordet" Gulsvik who had earlier acquired part of Ruud in Soknedalen. In 1577, Jon traded the place Kaarmo to his nephew Syver Bjornsen and received Gandrud from him. sometime before 1591 he bought Buoen farm from his nephew. Buoen was then an Odegaard. (vacant since the Black Plague of 1349-50.

In 1593, there was a dispute over the estate of Jon av Gulsvik. The oldest son, Guttorm, was supposed to have part of Gulsvik, which he had received from his real mother; but his step-mother, Aase, Paul's daughter, insisted on having it herself. She was willing that Guttorm have Oppegard in Soknedalen. Following a court decision that proved invalid, Guttorm made a contract with Aase in which she could live on Gulsvik one more year and then move to Oppegard. This she agreed to do, but she died soon after moving.

On May 10, 1609, the children settled the ownership of the land properites 15 years after the inheritance was handed down. It ended with Guttorm owning Gulsvik. Helge received Buoen and Clemet received Oppegard. The two step sisters of Guttorm received parts of other farms which must certainly have belonged to Aase.

Jon and his first wife were cousins; their mothers were sisters, whose father was Monsruud in Sokna.
